The Virus & The Vaccine

The Corona Virus has proved to be a major contagion that has troubled this nation and the world. All peoples and nations are being shaken by it and many are greatly concerned for life and safety. Should the church also be troubled?

Should the Church be troubled is truly a key question. To help us answer this question let us take a look at the whole chapter of Psalm 91, i.e., verses 1-16

"He that dwells in the secret place of the most High shall abide under the shadow of the Almighty. I will say of the LORD, He is my refuge and my fortress: my God; in Him will I trust.

Surely He shall deliver you from the snare of the fowler, and from the noisome pestilence. He shall cover you with His feathers, and under His wings shalt you trust: His truth shall be your shield and buckler.

You shall not be afraid for the terror by night; nor for the arrow that flies by day; nor for the pestilence that walks in darkness; nor for the destruction that wastes at noonday.

A thousand shall fall at your side, and ten thousand at your right hand; but it shall not come near you. Only with your eyes shall you behold and see the reward of the wicked.

Because you have made the LORD your refuge, even the most High, your habitation; there shall no evil befall you, neither shall any plague come near your dwelling. For He shall give His angels charge over you, to keep you in all your ways. They shall bear you up in their hands, lest you dash your foot against a stone. You shall tread upon the lion and adder: the young lion and the dragon shalt you trample under feet.

Because he has set his love upon Me, therefore will I deliver him: I will set him on high, because he has known My name. He shall call upon Me, and I will answer him: I will be with him in trouble; I will deliver him, and honour him.

With long life will I satisfy him, and show him My salvation."

It is evident that God has a clear view on the matter of any prevailing virus epidemic or pandemic. All the evil contagions are mentioned in Psalm 91 and God's solution given. So the key issue is whether you as a Christian really believe God or you believe man. God says, if you will live in the secret place of His presence and trust in Him, no evil will touch you. Man says his vaccine is the only solution to the deadly virus that will keep you alive and safe from infection. Whose report will you believe? The choice is yours.

What if I am forced to take the vaccine?

Believers should not be worried about being forced to take the vaccine. God has taken care of that possibility in Mark 16: 17-18;

And these signs shall follow them that believe; In My name shall they cast out devils; they shall speak with new tongues; they shall take up serpents; and if they drink [ingest or inject] any deadly thing, it shall not hurt them; they shall lay hands on the sick, and they shall recover.

The above scripture quite clearly speaks for itself. Even so, it is always edifying to see a real life testimony, something that actually happened to someone who trusted in God with is life. Remember the story of Paul in Malta in Acts chapter 28, verses 1 to 6:

"And when they [the prisoners] were escaped, then they knew that the island was called Melita and the barbarous people showed us no little kindness: for they kindled a fire and received us every one, because of the present rain, and because of the cold.

And when Paul had gathered a bundle of sticks and laid them on the fire, there came a viper out of the heat and fastened on his hand. And when the barbarians saw the venomous beast hang on his hand, they said among themselves, 'No doubt this man is a murderer, whom, though he has escaped the sea, yet vengeance allows him not to live.' And he [Paul] shook off the beast into the fire and felt no harm.

Howbeit they looked when he should have swollen or fallen down dead suddenly: but after they had looked a great while, and saw no harm come to him, they changed their minds, and said that he was a god."

Now, the Word of God in the scriptures has been given to you. Furthermore, a real-life testimony has been presented to you. Now it is up to you to choose whom you will serve.

And finally, to answer the question that I posed at the beginning of this note; "Should the Church be troubled?", well, any Church of God that is afraid of the Corona virus, or any other contagion that may arise hereafter, will have no power to stand.
